ASSESSMENT OFFICE

The primary responsibility of the Assessment Office to maintain equitable assessments and authorize property tax exemptions throughout the Town. The Assessor is required to administer the assessment roll in accordance with New York State Real Property Tax Law, the Town Charter, and rules and regulations promulgated by the New York State Board of Real Property Services. The assessment roll and property inventory data is maintained using the Real Property System (RPS) developed by the New York State Office of Real Property Services (ORPS). Assessors generally have office hours 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm each Friday during the months of January through March in the Thurston Town Hall located at 7475 County Route 333. For an appointment after those dates, please contact one of the assessors.

Complaint forms on Real Property Assessments should be printed, completed, and signed before being hand delivered to the Town Hall in Thurston located at 7475 County Route 333, Thurston, New York. Hours for such delivery are Friday evenings from 7:00-9:00 PM beginning the second Friday in January 2010 and continuing through the last Friday of March 2010.
