Fire Department

Fire protection for the Town of Thurston is provided by a small group of dedicated volunteers. The Fire Company is governed by the Board of Fire Commissioners which consists of five members and meets the second Monday of each month at the Town Hall. The Fire Hall is located at 7475 County Route 333 in the Town of Thurston.

The Thurston Fire Department welcomes applications for volunteer firefighters. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Thurston, please call the Fire Chief at 607-377-0172 for further information.

NYS DEC issued initial open burning regulations effective October 14, 2009. Burning trash is prohibited statewide in all cases. For more information on the open burning laws, go to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation website at the following link.

Residents are urged to recycle all appropriate materials and compost their leaves.
